How can the Steps2Wellbeing Employment Advice Service help me?
A young person was referred to the Employment Advice Service due to their anxiety & depression. The person was employed part time as a waiter and was looking for full time employment. They had a goal of eventually moving out of their parents' home to become fully independent. The Employment Advisor was able to identify key areas of support and together they made achievable goals to work towards. The person was supported with improving their CV and guidance on interview skills and techniques as well as application forms and interview preparation. The Employment Advisor was able to provide a toolkit of resources that the person could use in practice. With only 4 sessions this person secured full time employment and was able to save towards their goal of becoming independent.
Case Study 2
A CBT therapist referred a patient who was in full time work but was signed off due to stress. Anxiety was having an impact on their workplace stress and this workplace stress was also making their anxiety worse. The Employment Advisor was able to help them identify work stress triggers of and explore how this was impacting them.
The person was supported by creating a practical approach to problem solving areas that impacted stress. By breaking each stressful situation down and tackling them together in a solution focused approach the patient was able to overcome the stressful situations. After only 2 sessions the person was able to return to work and put the strategies and adjustments in place.
