Students Like Bananas!
Tuesday, 30 September 2014
This weekend, staff from the Bournemouth and Christchurch Steps to Wellbeing Service including both admin and clinicians attended this year's Fresher's Fair at Bournemouth University. The stand had information about the service, goody bags including a leaflet, a pen and some sweets, some books on happiness, chocolates and bananas!
Nicola Vadasz (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) commented "...going into late morning we had students approaching the stand one after the other for about 2 hours, with nearly everyone attracted by the free bananas, which we eventually ran out of. We had a small number of students open up and say they were struggling with low mood or anxiety or knew someone who was. We also had some students studying subjects at the university who asked about volunteering opportunities, placements and career paths, which was also positive that we could give an insight into possible future directions...".
All in all it was a successful event and one thing we learnt was that students like bananas!!
