Stress

Stress is a natural reaction and can occur in everyday life. It helps to motivate us to reach our goals, and can occur in response to a challenging or difficult situation. But too much stress can cause a range of symptoms that are bad for our bodies and minds.

Stress can be bought on by a specific situation such as the death of a loved one, or from being under an extended period of pressure at work. It can lead us to feel overwhelmed, and like we are unable to cope with the situation. Symptoms of stress can include:

  • being irritable

  • not being able to concentrate

  • frequent headaches

  • indigestion

  • problems sleeping, or feeling tired all the time

  • feeling run down or ill

  • feeling tense, and developing habits such as excessive drinking, smoking, or biting your nails.
