We can help people with low to moderate learning disabilities who are feeling sad, anxious or stressed.
Who are Steps2Wellbeing?
Steps2Wellbeing are a team who help people with anxiety and depression. We help people by providing talking therapies, like counselling or cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Counselling means talking to a therapist about your problems.
Cognitive behavioural therapy helps you to make links between how you feel and how you think and behave.
Both therapy and CBT teach you how to cope with your problems.
What do we help with?
We can help you if you:
feel very sad or anxious
feel stressed or panicky
have been through something very difficult or frightening
have lost someone close to you
We can help people with mild to moderate learning difficulties, if you are over 18 years old and you have a Dorset or Southampton Central GP practice.
How to get and appointment
You can refer yourself to the service by clicking on the link above.
You can get someone to help you to do this if you would like. If you would like to speak to us on the phone click here and call the number for your area.
You can also be referred to us by your GP, or your learning disability team. It is a good idea to tell us that you have a learning disability so that we can help you.
What happens next?
When we see you we ask you some questions, and get you to fill in a questionnaire about how you are feeling. This helps us to know how to help you.
