Diabetes

Whether you have been diagnosed recently with diabetes, or you have been living with diabetes for a long time, living with this condition can greatly affect how you feel.

You might feel:

  • Frustrated or angry: "Why has this happened to me", "I shouldn't have to deal with this!"

  • Fed up, low in mood or depressed: "I can't do anything that I used to do", "There's no hope for me."

  • Worried, stressed, or anxious: "What does this mean?", "What should I do?", "I don't know how to cope."

These thoughts and feelings can get in the way of doing things that would help you to feel better, such as eating well, exercising, and using your medication.

How can we help?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) looks at the ways in which our thoughts, feelings and behaviours affect each other. Our trained and experienced CBT therapists will work with you to explore what changes you could make that would help you to cope better and feel better. Diabetes doesn't have to be a life-sentence. It is certainly life-changing, but we will support you to make choices and changes that will enable you to live the best life possible.
